~*Ranting*~

Begin rant...

Meek: 1 : enduring injury with patience and without resentment.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Are we sure about that? I'm beginning to wonder.

I think the truly inconsiderate and rude will inherit the earth, because there are so many of them.

When that happens, I hope I'm long gone.

It physically hurts me to see so many people that have no regard for their fellow human.

Just yesterday at work, I found evidence that someone had stolen at least fifteen pieces of infant clothing.

Why?

Why would you put your innocent child in stolen clothes?

I fear for their future with a mother or father like that. Someone that thinks it's okay to steal.

I can't imagine the mind of a thief and I'm glad that I can't.

I'm not better than anyone else, but I think I have a whole lot more morals than a few people out there.

Can you tell that I'm struggling here? I'm seriously upset.

I see this on a daily basis, and I think it's taking it's toll.

Below are just a few things that I saw yesterday. Take each one alone, and it's just a silly thing, but as a group, they weighed on my heart very heavily.

1. The finding of the stolen items.

2. Management telling me that they have to cut eight hours out of my current schedule and that I'm not aloud to work but four hours tonight.

3. Me being my normal, nice self and greeting a customer with, "Hi, and how are you today?" Their answer? Silence...followed by more silence and staring.

4. Me standing at a table with hundreds of shirts all needing folding. While I work on that, female customer stands a few feet away from me and intentionally knocks shirts to the floor and leaves them there and walks away.

5. Women taking numerous items into the fitting room and coming back out with nothing in their hands. When I go in to investigate, it looks like they just jumped out of the clothes and left them where they dropped.

6. Same women taking six items into the fitting room and coming back out with only three. I then go to investigate and find three empty hangers and no product.

7. Our store has no security. It's been that way ever since our last security person was fired for fraternizing with a check-out employee and helping her steal items.

8. Customer yelling at me because we no longer change watch batteries. We've had this policy for over two years because the store was tired of replacing watches because the employee accidentally broke or scratched the watch and customer whined.

9. The last incident caused me to say, "This is a jewelry counter, not a jewelry store. We don't offer full service". While this was intended for the customer to hear, she was already in her car before I said it.

See? The truly inconsiderate people are trying to win me over to their side. I'm already speaking like one.

Last one. I promise.

10. A group of four to five ladies (I use the term 'ladies' loosely) were walking by myself and another employee when one stops beside me and says, "Oh, I know where you could go. Go to (insert another Mart store here), they have great stuff!" My response, without thinking, "Yeah, I agree with you, you should go there". She laughed, and then spent the next thirty minutes eyeing me.

Maybe she was my recruiter. Hmm...

What I believe...
1. Be nice.
2. Help others.
3. Don't always be thinking, "What's in this for me?"
4. Even though I work retail, I'm still a human being that deserves your respect.
5. Don't steal. Nothing in this life is free except happiness and you can't be happy being a thief!
6. If someone falls, help them up and don't stand around laughing at them.
7. Treat life like it's a pop quiz. Are you gonna pass it?

*eh*

I hope I haven't come off as someone that thinks they are better than anyone else. These are just things that bother me, and I'm not sure why. Why do I take these things that have nothing to do with me, and make them my own. I live my life right, should it upset me when others don't? Hmm...

Well, I shall end here with a short poem that came to me a little while ago. It's not finished, but it's a start. -lata, lisa

Do unto me, but I won't do unto you
Give me everything and your spirit, too
I am the winner if I can collect all of your tears
The better I am at it, the bigger your fears.

...end rant.
