New year, new job

well, it's been 66 days since I last updated. I've been busy and lazy at the same time. Hell, I'm not sure anyone even reads this anymore.

anyway, the biggest thing that's happened to me in the time that I've been away, is that I quit my job of 15 years.

This happened last Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. and I started working my new job at 3:00 p.m. that same day.

I received some inside information about my job position, and that it was almost 100 percent true that I was about to lose it, and that's why I decided to leave them before they got the joy of slitting my throat. I just know it pissed 'em off that I quit before they got the chance to tell me to hit the road. haha.

The inside informant was correct because two days later, six people lost their job positions, full-time status and benefits and I would have been one of them. They seem to cut people that have been with the company over 10 years. See what loyalty to a company will get ya...a swift kick in the ass because they think you make too much money. My prediction will be that soon this particular company will only have part-time associates. They are cheaper and they get no benefits. Sounds like good business to me. The bottom line is, was, and has always been money. duh.

My new job is not glamorous, nor challenging, but it is a job. Oh, and the best part? IT's NOT RETAIL!!! I don't have to deal with customers!!! This is so cool!

Oh, and another wonderful thing about this job...MONEY! I work 6 days a week for a total of 48 hours, and 8 of those hours are overtime! I'll get raises every 90 days and there is no top-out pay, meaning I can make money, money, money!

oh, and another good thing is that after 90 days, I get full medical and dental benefits and my 401K.

sidenote: after 15 years with the shithole job, and 10 years of being vested in the company, I have...wait...get ready for it...you're not gonna believe it...a big $975 in my savings/retirement fund. WOW! This is sarcasm here, if ya can't tell. I can't even roll this amount over into another fund, because they tell me that I have to have at least a thousand dollars. This is just sad.

Now the draw-backs..I'll receive no personal or vacation days until I've been there a year. Eh, I'll live.

Another draw-back? It's kind of boring work. It's factory work, but it's not hard.

Okay, don't laugh, but I make these...

...like I said, not glamorous, but I hope that when I graduate college in December, I'll be able to get a better job. *fingers crossed*

Well, gotta go get ready for work. I work the second shift 3-11:30. It's not so bad, but I definitely need to look into getting Tivo because I'm pissed that I never get to see any primetime TV. I really wanted to watch "Beauty and the Geek" :(
